This project is for Heilongjiang Province Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest in 2014, as a group of 3, we built a metal detector with a four-bar metal frame which can detect the metal in a fixed size area. We use the module AY-LDC1000, 2 stepping motors with driver STP-MD415 and STM32F103Rx as microcontroller.
The goal is to detect coins, self made 4 cm circumference iron circle in less than 2 mins in a 50*50 cm² area, and locate at the center of the object within the acceptable error. I mainly took responsibility for the design of the structure of the whole metal detector, the control of the motors, programming for the system on single chips and writing reports for the final submission.
After 3 days competition, at last, we control the error of the coin location less than 5 mm, and the error of the location of the 4 cm circumference circle a little larger than 5mm, all of the location time are limited in 1 mins.
